Memoari Pere Bogalja - Slobodan Selenic (Memoirs of Pero the Cripple)

Selenic's first novel, "Memoirs of Pera the Cripple" (1968), a masterpiece of the new generation of post-war Serbian writers, is read in one go due to its ease of style and perfect use of words, its universal message and specific place in time, leaving a mark in contemporary Serbian prose. Ostracised by "humanity", an accident crippled a child in a refuge during the Second World War, Pera the cripple in his memoirs portrays postwar partisan moral decay and a society that is dissected in the name of unattainable ideals, a society that has become even worse and more unfair. In the end Pero becomes disgusted with the system he is surrounded by.

Dimensions: 13 x 20 cm (soft cover), 265 pages, Latin script.
