This novel by Miroslav Turudic - "Zemun, a memory," has specific urban and literary refinement while at the same time is reminiscent of the language of the past while containing current historical dynamics of life and destiny. It is a story about the fateful journeys of the hero Vojin Erdevicko. Serbs are imprisoned in their own land which is diminishing their national destiny. It is a brutal conflict between rural lives and troubled citizens who are trying to preserve their dignity and identity. The basic framework of this novel are the troubled times of recent Serbian history, the main theme being "loud silence" - this was the fate of the Germans who lived in Vojvodina during the early postwar years. The hero is the novel tries to reach the limits of national catharsis, Miroslav Turudić in this modern novel creates a fragmentation and discontinuity of time. He writes this novel from the perspective of a small family and their city history, but it includes the vast and rich historical heritage, backwaters, ups and downs ... and all that is life in this region, which is eternally induced by humanity, morality and ethics.
