Bekim Sejranovic received the special literature prize, Mesa Selimovic, for this novel in 2009. He was born in Brcko and now lives in Oslo and Hvar.

"The last time I saw my Grandad he said he had something else for me. He gave me a photograph of him and my mother that had gone yellow, dating back to 1945. That was the first time they met, when the whole town was celebrating its liberation. Grandad had to go further on, so they took the photograph as a reminder of that special day. He is wearing a partisan uniform, with his partisan hat tilting slightly to the right. Mother is wearing "dimije" and sandals and has fake pearls around her neck..."
