Thirty-five centuries ago she ruled over Egypt, not as Queen but as a Pharaoh. Still, her name - Hatshepsut - does not appear in the dynastic scrolls nor is her reign celebrated on the monuments. Prejudice against women on the throne was so strong that her successors have tried to erase all evidence about her rule. Records and monuments were destroyed, tombs of her faithful ministers were desecrated. Records on the wall of a huge magnificent temple were made unreadable. The temple was built for her in Deir al-Bahri by a royal architect and her lover. Yet she managed to persevere.

This is the story of a young woman who came to the throne of Egypt, perfected the skill of warfare and government, living her life according to her own ideas and ruled the empire as the only female Pharaoh in history.
